MUJUR ATAU MALANG?

Ada sebuah cerita Cina kuno tentang seorang laki-laki tua yang sikapnya dalam memandang kehidupan berbeda sama sekali dengan orang-orang lain di desanya.

Rupanya laki-laki tua ini hanya mempunyai seekor kuda, dan pada suatu hari kudanya kabur. Para tetangganya datang dan menaruh belas kasihan kepadanya, mengatakan kepadanya betapa mereka ikut sedih karena kemalangan yang menimpanya.

Jawabannya membuat mereka heran. "Tapi bagaimana kalian tahu itu kemalangan?" dia bertanya. 

Beberapa hari kemudian kudanya pulang, dan ikut bersamanya dua ekor kuda liar. Sekarang si laki-laki tua punya tiga ekor kuda. Kali ini, tetangga-tetangganya mengucapkan selamat atas kemujurannya. "Tapi bagaimana kalian tahu itu kemujuran?" dia menjawab.

Pada hari berikutnya, sementara sedang berusaha menjinakkan salah seekor kuda liar, anak laki-lakinya jatuh dan kakinya patah. Sekali lagi, para tetangga datang, kali ini untuk menghibur si laki-laki tua karena kecelakaan yang menimpa anaknya. "Tapi bagaimana kalian tahu itu kemalangan?" dia bertanya.

Kali ini, semua tetangganya menarik kesimpulan bahwa pikiran si tua kacau dan tidak ingin lagi berurusan dengannya. Walaupun demikian, keesokan harinya penguasa perang datang ke desa dan mengambil semua laki-laki yang sehat untuk dibawa ke medan pertempuran. Tetapi anak si laki-laki tua tidak ikut diambil, sebab tubuhnya tidak sehat! Kita semua akan menghayati kehidupan yang lebih tenang kalau kita tidak terlalu tergesa-gesa ....

DESIRABLE PLACE TO GO

You can do more than you think you can do, if you will start thinking you can. You can reach higher than you’ve chosen to reach, if you will choose to do so.

There are obstacles you must move past, and some of those obstacles are in your own expectations. Raising your expectations won’t magically make things happen, but it will stimulate you to make more things happen.

If you expect you can’t, you won’t. If you expect you can, you give birth to the possibility.

There’s no way around the fact that achievement requires focused effort. Your expectations put you in the frame of mind to make that effort.

Expectations also open your eyes to opportunities you never would have otherwise seen. And expectations set your imagination to work.

Positive expectations give you a desirable place to go. Then, you can put forth the effort to follow where they lead.

Don’t dwell endlessly on what’s wrong. Do something positive, and change your momentum.

When things are tough and life is unfair, the least effective strategy is to complain about it. The most effective strategy is to get busy.

You’re better than the problems. The way to prove that to yourself and to the world is with your actions.

You deserve to feel like you’re on top of the world, so give yourself what you deserve. Embrace the effort, persist through the challenges, and experience the satisfaction of making a real difference.

Treat every situation as an opportunity for positive and meaningful work. Seize the treasure in every moment by doing something useful with the moment.

Delight your senses and your sense of purpose by jumping into action. Work your way past the disappointments, and up to a whole new level of fulfillment.
